El Girafoc es va crear a partir d’un experiment físic que mostra com l’aire calent de quatre espelmes fa girar una sínia de cartolina, i de la  curiositat per veure si podia funcionar a gran escala. Així, a partir d’una estructura formada per quatre  troncs de fusta amb una sínia giratòria damunt,  i fustes de rebuig, s’anava construint el Girafoc durant els 15 dies de juny anteriors a la revetlla.

La construcció del Girafoc s’acompanyava de tallers oberts relacionats amb els elements que s’incorporaven a l’estructura i d’espectacles de petit format a les nits. El dia de la revetlla s’introduia en la base del Girafoc una olla que preparava en Pep Salsetes amb els ingredients per a un estofat i que l’endemà servia d’esmorzar als que aguantaven la festa.

El Girafoc va ser un projecte d’Entropia, format per Carlos Lorente i Glòria Giménez,  en el qual hi van participar actívament amics de Lliçà d’Amunt i rodalies.

The Girafoc was created from a physical experiment showing how hot air from four candles makes a cardboard turbine turn, to see if it would work on a larger scale. From a structure formed of four tree trunks with a windmill above and supporting branches the Girafoc was built during 15 days in June before the summer solstice festivals.
The construction of the Girafoc accompanied the workshops exploring the elements that were incorporated into the structure and the performances in the evening. The night of the festival a large cauldron was introduced into the base of the Girafoc, that Pep Salsetes prepared with ingredients for a stew, that was later served as breakfast to all those who had lasted the nights festivities.

Girafoc was an Entropia project, directed by Carlos Lorente and Glòria Giménez,  in which many people from Lliçà d’Amunt and the surrounding area participated.
